Each light source has strengths and weaknesses,as well as the applications for which it is suitable for. Do you know what’s the difference among these light sources? Now let me tell you.


Red LED(visible)

The red led light source are commonly applied in sensors.It holds such features as visible light point, large spot and simple alignment,which helps us to install and adjust the sensors easily.Additionally, it fits most of the applications with affordable price.

Infrared LED

Infrared LED and receiving elements have strong response to infrared light with high efficiency. Therefore, it is commonly used as light source for long-range photoelectric sensors. In the same product series, compared with red light, infrared light tends to have a longer sensing distance.

Infrared light performs with strong energy and good anti-interference.However,for its light spot is invisible,the installation and commissioning would be more complicated. Infrared photoelectric sensors would play a major role in some applications. For example, the visible light will make workers uncomfortable if they need to work near the sensors all the time. In this case, infrared light will be better. In addition, infrared light performs well if the detected objects have poor reflectivity or when the sensors are exposed in the environment with powerful light interference.

Infrared Laser

Laser has a small,bright and concentrated light spot,which is suitable for detecting objects with small dimensions and for applications requiring high detection accuracy,since laser works with power and great anti-interference.Laser source can be divided into Class I and Class II. Class I lasers, whose power is in microwatts, has no harm for human skin or eyes if the internal devices are not disassembled; Class II lasers are more energetic than Class I lasers, and we should avoid looking at the laser source for long, or shining the laser into someone’s eyes.

RGB Light Source

Generally, it can be taken for mark and color sensors. When BGS light source hits the detected object, it will reflect different ratios of the three primary colors, so that subtle color discrimination can be realized.
